Maria has been trying to choose between science and writing for years, before realizing she could do both. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and French from Drew University, with a minor in Writing. She then worked in a cognitive neuroscience lab at UC Davis for 3 years before starting graduate school at UC Irvine.
As a Ph.D. student in cognitive neuroscience, Maria studies how different brain regions allow us to remember experiences. She is a strong technical writer and flexes her science writing skills often by writing for the UC Irvine community about outreach events, new research and even scientists themselves. She is committed to communicating science in a concise, accurate and engaging way.
